WoodWing and Drupal: Integrating Publishing Workflows

Last updated: March 2026 · Reading time: 6 minutes

Media companies and publishers manage thousands of assets: images, videos, layouts, articles. When these assets are stored in WoodWing and the website runs on Drupal, integration eliminates manual transfer and ensures consistency.

WoodWing Assets: DAM for Drupal

WoodWing Assets (formerly Elvis DAM) manages digital assets centrally: images, videos, documents with metadata, rights management and version control.

The Drupal integration allows editors to browse and insert WoodWing assets directly from the Drupal editor. Changes in WoodWing — new versions, updated metadata — are automatically reflected on the website.

WoodWing Studio: Editorial Workflows

WoodWing Studio manages the editorial process: article creation, review, approval and publication. Journalists and editors work in a structured workflow with defined roles and stages.

The Drupal integration publishes approved content automatically to the website. No manual copy-paste, no formatting errors. The editorial team works in Studio, the website is updated via API.

Publishing Integration Planned?

arocom integrates WoodWing and other publishing systems with Drupal. The Future Check evaluates your current publishing workflow. Starting at EUR 2,500 plus VAT, credited toward the follow-up project.

Can WoodWing replace Drupal's media management?

WoodWing is a professional DAM for organizations with thousands of assets and complex rights management. For simpler needs, Drupal's built-in media system is sufficient. The choice depends on asset volume and workflow complexity.

Is the integration bidirectional?

Typically, WoodWing is the leading system for assets and editorial content. Drupal receives content for publication. Bidirectional sync is possible for metadata and status updates.
