Challenge

The Challenge

The GOPA Group consists of multiple subsidiaries, each operating their own website. 7 separate web presences, 7 different technologies, 7 editorial teams — a situation that was neither efficient nor consistent. Consolidation onto a single platform was long overdue.

7 Websites, One Brand

Each subsidiary had its own website with its own technology and design. The GOPA Group as an umbrella brand was not recognizable as a unified entity online. The consolidation had to preserve individual subsidiary identities while creating a consistent appearance.

6 Weeks to MVP

The timeline was ambitious: 6 weeks from project start to MVP launch. This required precise prioritization, fast decisions and an architecture that works immediately and can be extended later.

International Stakeholders

A multi-agency project with stakeholders across different countries and time zones. Coordination in English, cultural differences in work styles, varying expectations regarding scope and speed.

Trilingual Without German

The platform needed to be deployed in English, French and Spanish — without a German version. Drupal's multilingual system had to be configured accordingly, with English as the default language.

Solution

The Solution

MVP Approach: Go Live Fast, Then Iterate

Instead of a monolithic relaunch, arocom chose an MVP approach: the core features — company pages, project database, interactive world map and job board — were launched within 6 weeks. Additional features followed in iterative sprints.

This approach was crucial for engaging the diverse stakeholders early and developing the platform based on real feedback.

Platform Architecture and Core Features

The technical solution had to translate 7 websites into a scalable platform:

7-to-1 Consolidation

All 7 GOPA Group websites on a single Drupal 11 platform. Unified design, shared content management, central editorial team — but with the flexibility to present individual subsidiaries distinctly.

Interactive World Map with Geocoder

A world map displays all GOPA Group projects by location. Geocoder translates addresses into coordinates, the map is filterable by region, topic and subsidiary.

Job Import via Cron

Job postings are automatically imported from the HR system and mapped as a Job Posting content type in Drupal. Cron-based import, automatic deactivation of expired positions.

Trilingual Deployment

English, French and Spanish using Drupal's multilingual system. Each piece of content can be maintained independently per language, with fallback to English as the default language.

Results

The Results

One Platform Instead of Seven Websites

The GOPA Group presents itself online as a unified entity — with a single platform that centrally manages all subsidiaries, projects and job postings.

MVP Delivered in 6 Weeks

Despite international stakeholders and a multi-agency setup, the platform was live after 6 weeks. The MVP approach enabled early feedback and minimized project risk.

Global Visibility

The interactive world map makes the GOPA Group's global presence visible at a glance. Visitors can filter projects by region and topic.

Editorial Efficiency

Instead of 7 separate editorial systems, there is one central platform. Content is created once and can be deployed in 3 languages.

After rather negative experiences with other agencies, we switched to arocom this year and are fully satisfied with the services provided. arocom impresses with good communication, transparency and speed. We are happy to recommend them.

How does a 7-to-1 website consolidation work?

arocom analyzes the existing websites, identifies shared and specific content, and designs a unified content architecture. For GOPA, this meant: 5 content types that cover all 7 subsidiaries, with taxonomies for differentiation. Migration happens incrementally, with old and new platforms running in parallel until full switchover.

Is an MVP in 6 weeks realistic?

Yes, with clear prioritization and an experienced team. The key is consistent focus on core features: for GOPA, those were company pages, project database, world map and job board. Everything else followed in iterative sprints after launch.

How is multilingual content handled in Drupal?

Drupal includes a mature multilingual system in its core. Each piece of content can be maintained in any number of languages, with configurable fallback. For GOPA, English is the default language, French and Spanish are translations — each independently editable.

Can arocom handle international projects with English as the project language?

Yes. arocom regularly works on English-language projects with international stakeholders. The GOPA project is a prime example: English project language, stakeholders across multiple countries, trilingual platform without a German version.
