Google Analytics 4 (GA4) captures user data from your website. Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio) visualizes this data in dashboards for decision-makers. Together they form the foundation for data-driven decisions — which pages convert, where visitors drop off, which channels deliver traffic. Since 2012, arocom has set up analytics and reporting for Drupal platforms and builds dashboards that show relevant KPIs.

Google Analytics and Data Studio: Reporting for Decision-Makers

Last updated: March 2026 · Reading time: 5 minutes

Data without interpretation is noise. Most GA4 setups capture everything and report nothing relevant. Decision-makers do not need 200 metrics — they need answers: Which pages generate leads? Which channel delivers the best ROI? Where are we losing visitors?

Google Analytics 4: What Has Changed

GA4 replaced Universal Analytics in 2023. The data model is event-based: every interaction is an event — page view, click, scroll, form submission. This enables more precise tracking but requires clean configuration.

Define conversions. In GA4, you mark events as conversions: contact form submitted, Future Check requested, phone number clicked. Without defined conversions, you are missing the most important metric.

Engagement rate. GA4 replaces bounce rate with engagement rate: the share of sessions lasting longer than 10 seconds, triggering a conversion, or having at least two page views.

Looker Studio: Dashboards for Decision-Makers

Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio) connects to GA4, Google Search Console, and other data sources. You build dashboards that show relevant KPIs at a glance.

Executive dashboard. Conversions, top landing pages, channel distribution, trend lines. On one page, updated automatically.

SEO dashboard. Organic traffic, top keywords, CTR development, indexing status. Data from GA4 and Search Console combined.

Content dashboard. Page views, dwell time, scroll depth per article. Shows which content works and which needs revision.

GA4 and Looker Studio with Drupal

GA4 integration in Drupal is done via Google Tag Manager or the Drupal module Google Analytics. The data layer passes Drupal-specific information (content type, taxonomy, author) to GA4 for more precise analyses.

Since 2012, arocom has set up analytics setups for Drupal platforms — from tag implementation to executive dashboards.
